Pardon the intrusion, I know this is a UK group. It was an intresting
post and I find it eye-opening to read posts from other perspectives
even if its to only be told to sod off.

Very interesting observations. I can think of no arguments to refute
the idea that we (Americans) aren't liked very much. I just wonder
though, if he really is from the future, what would give his warnings
any more weight than what already stares us in our faces? Being told
that you are going to be embroiled in a civil war in 1 year (never
happen sah! Psst, 1863?), or that nukes will drop on you in 11 years
might do it. But any reasoning human could see that possibility
    already, eh?

Considering it was written in late 2000 / early 2001 then at that
time it would be very difficult to see his point of view. However,
post Sept 11 has kind of changed all that...

I think I'll hedge my bets and go with 'completely mad', thanks.

  7. Well, if this bit's true:

"Are the Olympics still being played in the future?"

    60. As a result of the many conflicts, no, there were no official
Olympics after 2004. However, it appears they may be revived in 2040.

Then that should please quite a few on this ng.

What I'm impressed most by is how many people automatically want to
prove it true rather than to tear it apart.

That could sort of be true - if sport & politics clash too much,
such as England's cricket tour of Zimbabwe possibly being called
off over 'moral issues' then Beijing 2008 could go the same way
over China's human rights record. If London gets 2012, then
just the sheer fiasco of getting things built in time could
    mean that doesn't go ahead...

Why? Look at how many people believe in one or more gods with bugger

Yeah. It's bollocks like this that helps folk avoid facing up to reality.

  16. Nice windup. Frankly though, it's nothing the 13yr old Asimov couldn't
    have dreamed up.
