Commuting scooter / motorcycle

  1. Every once in a while someone touts an electric moped as the next great
thing, but it hasn't really happened yet.
Well, diesel cars are hugely popular here because of the economy aspect.
And modern diesel cars are seriously impressive - I think the BMW 3- and
5-series iesels are quicker than their petrol equivalents, though SWK
    will surely correct me.

There were rumours a couple of years ago that Honda was developing a
diesel touring bike - if done properly with a decent turbo unit, it
would be a very interesting creation.

That Hilton Hotels had a special offer that ended in the UK on March 31,
    2005?

    You're absolutely right. I didn't know that.

    Thanks.

I'm sorry if I came across as worried. I'm not in the least. Out of curiosity,
where are you and what do you pay for gas?

Perzackly. I don't even worry about the fuel mileage of my truck. I didn't
install the high performance exhaust system for ECONOMY! Plus, I live 4.9 miles
from work. The miles I ride are almost all just for fun. Riding to work almost
every day only accounts for about 2,000 to 2,500 of the 12-15,000 miles I put on
    motorcycles each year.

It's ridiculous, innit? My wife goes on at me[1] for 'never using' the
gixxer, in that I'll have only done ~14000km in two years.

[1] Well, only when I tell her I need new leathers[2], helmet & boots.
[2] Going to go for a set of Alpinestars, despite known criticism.
Ultimately it's about fit - I've tried a few different makes and they
fit me best[3], so that's what I'm buying.
[3] Well, there was one set in a shop in Germany that looked and felt
_very_ nice, but at 1250 Euros for the pair compared with ~700 (minus
    discount) for the Alpinestars...

Interesting, I think our normal stuff is 95 and premium 97/98.

Mind you, we do pay $5.85 a gallon.

They are, but they (BMW 5 anyway) cost roughly the same to run in
fuel. It's the only way of getting the performance.
