Ah, but - I don't anymore. It won't fit in the new bike spaces at
    work.

Besides, I have a nimble commuter already.

What? Bristol's a doddle. I do it on the R1100RS every day and that's
not the world's most compact bike.

How long ago was that ?.
Bristol is now officially the most congested place in the UK [1] following
the latest dose of inspiration from the city council who diverted the
inner ring to make way for a new shopping mall.
A lot depends, of course, on your starting and end points.

[1] According to both AA and RAC.

I was quietly impressed by the K1300R last week.

If a woman on an R1 remains dry-knickered, she's riding the wrong bike.
In the context of a London commute, that sounds pretty fucking partial
to me. I spend as much of my commute stationary at lights as I do on the
    move.

Heh. I wondered who'd pick up on the wording.
He's talking about a commute _into_ London though, and hasn't actually
specified where too, so there's a pretty fair chance that this may not
be an issue. My own view is that if you're spending a lot of time
sitting at lights you need to find a different route. Or a different
    office.

Sure, I could head out of town on the A3, three quarters of the way
round the M25 and in on the A13, which would pretty much eliminate any
lights from my route. Might add a bit to the 8-mile commute though.
I got back to work yesterday to find a colleague had fucked off to work
in Switzerland for a year. Which means we're now down to 4, from 6.
Going to be a busy Autumn.

Naturally, I warned him not to take the piss in his 350Z. "You have
France just a few miles away. Make the most of that."

Having seriously considered the K1200R before I bought the Sprint ST, I
will definitely have another look when I next change.

Only the cost put me off last time but it's only money and if we've not
    moved house at that point...

    I did: Saturday lunchtime.

Nose to tail stationary traffic from the end of the M32 (where the
shiny new mosque is being built/renovated) to the Bath Bridge
    roundabout.

No feet down except at the lights.

    On a CB1300.

    Couldn't see the problem.
