No need to use code, you can say "car and driver" in here ;-)

Gosh, it seems ages since the big lizard reared its
    oh-so-ugly head in uk.rec.cycling.

Are you going to tell us that all cyclists always go through every red
    light again?

Given I'm often the one letting others pass[1] that's an interesting
    response.

Yes. I've driven tractors on the road.
    Disagree fundamentally.

Being collectable doesn't make them classics. After all, some people
    collect crisp packets.

  6. You've not done the Institute of Advanced Motoring, I see.

I'm sure you'll be able to tell us what that august body teach about pulling
over when travelling at the maximum permitted speed?

So you're now complaining about the very thing you've done yourself!

So when driving your tractor at it's maximum permitted speed you always
pulled over as soon as a car appeared behind you?

No I always weighted till about 10 cars, were stuck for more than a few
mins depending on road and dificulty of overtaking.

Two thirds of the limit is more than reasonable, indeed, it's more
reasonable to drive at that speed than 61mph.

I'll take that as a tacit agreement to my assertion.

Why wait for so many, surely (according to your view) you should have

I don't loathe it. I don't hate it or dislike or even like it. A boy took me
to Elland Road fifty years ago to watch John Charles and I once watched
Leeds lose to Sunderland, a long time ago on telly. Didn't enjoy either, by
the way, it doesn't interest me in the least.

But I don't like it being talked about ad nauseam all the time on radio, the
coverage is as boring as that car death a few years ago. For Heaven's sake,
there are other things in life. Thank goodness we don't have tv.

    It's not cricket, after all!

Yes, but cycling and gliding are for you, I assume, participant sports.
There's a big difference in taking part and watching.

I dont think the fans are winning the German hearts and minds. not with
those two idiots who painted swastikas on themselves.
The tournament has only just begun and its off to a good start.
    Keep it up :)

Agree even more - however this "celebrity" culture will take longer than the
    WC to close. Pity.

Not when you take any tests, most (all) mark you on reasonable progress
which means a lot more than 40 in a 60.

Well I fucked off to a deserted beach up on the NW Scotland - had a great
time, no radio (and no footie), silver sands, blazing sun, gentle breeze,
log fires, wine - and not an England flag on any car passing :)

  20. You'd fail your test at 40 in a 60 mph.
