This would be an excellent time to go house hunting. At one time you
could tell how bad a neighbourhood was by counting the number of
satellite dishes. Now the quality of a neighbourhood is inversely
proportional to the number of flags.

Something similar was said about a number of cars in the past, that are now
    very collectable, including the Allegro.

Is your "sensible, safe speed" the national speed limit for other road
    users?

Probably that lower limit imposed on us by law! We don't like it any
    more than you.

Hint: It's a speed _limit_ not a _target_ speed.

I'm sure you don't like it but imagine how upset other road users feel
when they get caught at the back of a queue consisting of 40 cars and
a caravan. The government keeps banging on about speed kills but a
small investigation into how many times that speed came was used
because of frustration caused by sitting behind a slow moving vehicle.

My views on farm vehicles and abnormal loads being on the roads at
peak times make me look like a caravan lover btw.

What about buses, coaches and goods vehicles which have the same speed
limits as caravans or HGVs which are lower still. Perhaps you should
leave more time for your journey to allow for the fact that the roads
are there for many different vehicles, not just cars.

Good job we have slower moving vehicles on the roads to slow you down a
    bit then.

I didn't realise that the vehicles you mention increase in volume over
    the summer.

Sorry, didn't realise we were talking about seasonal traffic. So what
about all the other cars that get out on the roads in the summer and
clog the roads up so you can't overtake for oncoming traffic and you end
up sat is queues and congestion?

  13. With you on that. Altho' farm vehicles tend to be only going a mile or so,
ime. I want to know what dickwit put an abnormal on the M25 at five at night
the other week. When I find him, I will hurt him. Badly.
At least those are of use to the community. And - as someone who drives over
40K miles a year - the standard of HGV driving is generally excellent.
    Unlike......!

Watching TV is not mandatory when I last checked ;-) What is clear is
that people will pay a lot of money to people like Sky and the pubs to
be able to watch football on TV. I doubt they would do the same for
programmes about caravanning. Cycling and motorcycling has a bit better
coverage but not much and motorsport does quite well.

Why do motorists so often consider that they should be entitled to
drive at the speed limit. It's a limit, not a target. Apart from a
few select cases, road users are entitled to make reasonable progress
which is considerably below than the limit.
