Try replacing the "appealing to" in your sig with "relying on", &
"memory" with "stupidity" & see how it applies to your arguments. Quite
    a nice fit methinks.

As you don't want to answer TOG's question, try this one: which of the
following would be safest on an NSL road:

    1) A 90 year old bloke with failing (but still 'legal') eyesight & the
reactions of a snail driving 2.5 tonnes of 40 year old Landy with
crossply tyres & drum brakes at 55mph.

    2) A 30 year old club racer riding a modern superbike at 70mph.

Bear in mind the superbike can most likely do 0-60-0 in less time than
the Landy can stop from 55.

In your world (& that of the speed camera partnerships) the geezer in
the Landy is safer because he's within the speed limit (i.e. doing a
"reasonable speed" according to the authorities). I know which one I'd
rather have bearing down on me if I stepped out into the road without
    looking.

Anyone who claims that 'exceeding the speed limit is dangerous' is
dumber than dishwater. Illegal, yes - dangerous, no. The only thing
that's dangerous with respect to speed is exceeding the safe speed for
the vehicle, conditions & rider's/driver's ability. Doing 100mph+ is no
more dangerous for many combinations of vehicle, road & 'pilot' than
    doing 50mph for other combinations.

Sorry - the client I use is my business, and nobody elses. I subscribe
to a cycling related newgsgroup, and expect to see largely cycling
    related messages.

I now have over 600 messages on some game whereby 22 men kicking a ball
about in the park seems more important than anything else. There seems
to be many many people on these 4 NGs that have started using this
thread for their own purposes but are still crossposting (many of those
users are probably too incompetent to realise that that is what they
    are doing).
600+ crossposted messages, the vast majority of which are OFF topic, is
    surely abuse.

Therefore, I politiely ask that people take the football discussions
elsewhere, and ensure that where the topic has gone back on topic for 1
of these 4 NGs, that they please double check that they are not
    crossposting to the other 3.

    Thankyou!

Yes, the "Paki bastard" had the temerity to use the empty lane 1 whilst Kev
    was sat in lane 2...

Kev was so proud of the incident that he actually started a thread on it in
August 05, which included the rather incriminating...

"By this time I was fuming and I cut him off across the roundabout. I
jumped out and got to his door - he wasnt fucking laughing then"

The same month he mentioned an episode where he was being charged for
dangerous driving and assault over an altercation with a BMW driver.
(My mistake - the assault accusation wasn't over the "Paki bastard")

What gives you the right to decide what news clients other people
    "should" use?

Yours may have the useful "ignore thread" option, but it has a lot
    wrong with it.

There are surprisingly few that do have an "ignore thread option".
Mine does, but only if you actually keep at least one message from the
    thread first.

I think you'll find it was merely a suggestion that if the OP couldn't cope
with killing an entire thread, perhaps he ought to use a proper full-
featured UseNet client instead of a (perfectly good) mail client with
    pretensions.
My own client doesn't have a "sticky" Ignore Thread - but it does allow me
to kill all posts in that thread at that time with one mouse click. Next
    Best Thing, IMHO.

A series of bad accidents in dense fog, IIRC. The blather published in
"The Daily Mirror" about AC testing their Le Mans Cobras at 180+ had
    nothing to do with it.
