The "brightly coloured garden shed" was interpreted to be a car and
the "bucket of shit" its driver. Any misunderstanding is totally
    understandable.

Yep but unless you crank it open pretty wide you ain't going to get to
60mph uphill before you need to put the anchors on for the next hairpin.
And if you crank it that wide open on a one in three hill the front
wheel will come up. Are you sure you've ridden a powerful bike in the
    hills?

There was no need. The statement was clear and unambiguous as it
stood - and, as you appear to admit, incorrect.

Not on the flat on a long straight road, no. But try that when you are
trying to get from say 10 to 60 and back to 10 in a few tens of yards up
    a one in three.

Are you saying that a road user doesn't have the right to drive at 40
or less along a road with a speed limit of 60?

Why couldn't you have said that?

Because the threads do not belong in those groups.

I enjoy watching football, including the world cup. And I want England
    to do well.

But I am NOT interested in reading about it in the caravanning
newsgroup. It is totally Off Topic here (and in the other groups this
    is cross posted to).

Because there are huge numbers of people who do want to watch, but who
do not have any of the "premium" channels.

Two weeks ago I drove between Lairg and Altnaharra on the A836 in
perfect conditions. I don't suppose I got above 40, and yes I did
pull over to let cars pass, but many more pulled over to let me past.

This 1 in 3 in particular.. and it is a lot steeper than it looks in
    the picture. http://www.pbase.com/lucasarah/image/26022532
(just google images of hardknott pass)

(Wrynose is 1 in 4 max, Hardknott is 1 in 3, and more on the inside of
the hairpins. Should be serious fun on a powerful bike, but 60mph it is
    not on that part.)

You can make a correct statement about a great many things if you
preface it with *assuming conditions are suitable*.

Assuming conditions are suitable it's possible to sail across the
English Channel in a 10' dinghy in less than 1 hour.

Assuming conditions are suitable it's possible to rob the Bank of
    England of all its gold.

Assuming conditions are suitable it's possible to survive an airline
    blowing up at 20,000'.

And yes, assuming conditions are suitable it can be safe to drive at
    60 along a 60mph limit road.

Considering the things you've been exposing your inner child to, I'm
surprised Social Services haven't registered an interest.

You can do 60mph uphill at Wrynose, two-up on a GoldWing. Well, you
could in 2001. Mined ewe, it was raining.

There are more than one type of motorbike. There are bikes out there
that would be in their element on the Wrynose as are there bikes that
are in their element ripping up the local race track.
