HGVs. I take it you have forgotten the statutory speed limits in your
    dotage
http://www.highwaycode.gov.uk/09.htm. The only places HGVs would not be
restricted to 40mph would be dual carriageways with 60mph limits imposed
where they would be able to go at 50mph or motorways.

    Your point was?

So what did _you_ think it meant?

We're talking about cars that were so badly designed and built that no-
one would buy them, hence MG/Rover going bust.

I decided to back Britain and do my little bit so I bought a brand new
Rover 216SLi in 1997, it had to be the biggest pile of crap I ever spent
my own money on. When I left my ex 2 years later I made her keep it, as
a punishment. I took the Isuzu engined diesel Vauxhall Combo van with 4
    times the mileage instead.

You clearly haven't seen Wrynose Pass. Love to see you keep the back
wheel down doing a slow from 60mph going down a 1 in 3 gradient before
    the next hairpin.

Like to see you keep the front wheel down trying to accelerate to 60
between hairpins up a 1 in 3. Do you really ride a bike?

Tony, I think you are a few miles out and actually mean Hardknott pass.
Wrynose is perfectly possible at 30, at 40 even in a transit minibus.
There are no hairpins on Wrynose, one or two sharp corners yes, but no
    hairpins.

Hardknott is terrifying at 30, and at any speed in a transit minibus.

Ah, insults. The refuge of those with no arguments left to play.

So tell me how you keep the front wheel down accelerating up a one in
    three with say a 3s 0-60 acceleration?
