You're absolutely right. We need more motorbike factories out there with red as their house colour. MV Agusta=Red and silver. Honda=Red and white. Yamaha=Red and white, with black highlights
I never said that red was a necessity. Or even that green was a bad colour. An emerald green, or a forest green, or even a bright green would be fine. But that specific shade of green? Sorry, that brings up flashbacks of wide lapelled shirts, and polyester leisure suits. To me it's the same as if a bike company produced an ochre colour scheme.
Onto this GP grip strolls Kawasaki in the early 70's, and goes, "Fuck yas." (splat goes the screaming bright green paint, and all of a sudden all the other teams start to look like they take themselves just a bit too seriously) Black and blue are my favourite colours, but Kwaka green has always appealed to me because of its sheer audaciousness;
That's probably both the reason it's so popular, and the reason why it's so disliked. It just seems to scream "I'm think I'm so trendy, I can ride a bike this colour". Not "This is a colour that suits me". Or "This is a colour I really like.". But "This is the trend, so I like it because it's the trend.". At least that's the perception I've gotten personally, from both sides of the divide.
but I should probably shut up because I also think that nothing sets off the classic Suzuki two-tone-blue-on-white colour scheme quite like a pair of wheels powdercoated Dayglo...
Visibility at night would be cool.
