Colour Question....

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Dynamic, Jan 10, 2004.

  1. I never said that red was a necessity. Or even that green was a bad
colour. An emerald green, or a forest green, or even a bright green
would be fine. But that specific shade of green? Sorry, that brings up
flashbacks of wide lapelled shirts, and polyester leisure suits. To me
it's the same as if a bike company produced an ochre colour scheme.
That's probably both the reason it's so popular, and the reason why
it's so disliked. It just seems to scream "I'm think I'm so trendy, I
can ride a bike this colour". Not "This is a colour that suits me". Or
"This is a colour I really like.". But "This is the trend, so I like
it because it's the trend.". At least that's the perception I've
gotten personally, from both sides of the divide.
Visibility at night would be cool.

Was about to berate a friend yesterday for the
    tastelessness of the aftermarket carbon-fibre-look
add-ons when she pointed out that they were *actual*
    carbon fibre.

Those, and the titanium instrument cluster bracket
were allegedly foreign orders at Qantas Engineering
    :)

  5. Pink RZ's would only count if that's how Yamaha made them...

(Triumph's nuclear red will only get respect if it's still around in 2015)

  6. Well, choke my chicken...
Still can't claim it. A mate came up with it irl years ago (about two weeks
after the first thusly-hued Commodore was seen in public).

I met a woman a couple of years ago at Joe's, she had screaming orange
wheels (on a late-model Jap sports bike with child's-bedroom colours).

Can afford (if I wanted to redirect my income so pointlessly*), don't choose to.
An X Raptor will be hitting my garage long before a Holden graces it**.

*Yes Zebee, better an unregistered Jaguar or 2 than a Mid-life crisis Holden
** In fact there's about 15 bikes and 20 or 30 cars ahead of it in the
    desireability queue from this viewpoint
