About to get some new gear - looking at various Hein Gericke
jackets/trousers, they seem to have a good range.

Dilemma is that head says 'get a bright jacket for safety' (easier to be
seen) whereas heart says 'get black so that it doesn't contrast with the
    bike'.

Off down to Infinity and Hein Gericke in Farnborough later to choose -
    what does ukrm recommend?

Bright jacket, and 2 of those reflective straps, wrapped on each side.
    Think of the children!

Buy black and if you still worry about being seen, get a flouro bib or
    something.

cunts in cars don't look for bikes and don't see you whatever colour
    you are.
Black/charcoal - it looks much more acceptible as "just a jacket" when
    not on the bike.

"If they don't look, they'll never see you"

There is only one true colour for anything motorcycle related.

all my all-weather gear is black.

For some reason though, all black /leathers/ suggest people who smell
    of wee, to me.

  10. In case of a jacket it is because light reflects from it and you can see
it is black.[1] True black is an absence of light, innit.

[1] This is one of those "shafties can't wheelie" type things, isn't it?

    Doh.

    Is that because it's slimming?

Swot I thought, but I gave up on the 'are black & white colours' thread
very early on. What was the outcome anyway?
    God I hope not.

Yeah - especially in low light conditions.

    Not.

  14. I saw it and gave up after the first article I think. That's why I felt
my eyes roll round into the back of my head with the belief that I'd
    been had. Outcome? No idea.

Buy black, and if you want people to know your there, buy a race can and
thrash your bike everywhere. It works a hell of alot better than any yellow
    jacket.

Operated by a black switch - that lights up black to tell me it's on,
    of course.
