  1. A420 is OK if you are either not driving on it at rush-hour or are on a
bike. In a car it can be a nightmare..

The A420 has Gatsoes like TOG has gaskets.

Each to their own. I don't like the 420 in a cage, but it's good fun on
a bike. If it were me collecting a bike though, I'd do the twisty route
    & avoid the motorways altogether.

The weather forecast is crap, and if you're coming on the M5 and
turning right for Oxford, Cheltenham is going to be largely gridlocked
    until Friday night...

I agree, but her indoors is taking me down and wants to sit on the
M5 coming home, oh and stop for a coffee and wee I guess so its
one of the service stations for me, prob where the bike gets nicked
    as well.

I agree, perhaps her indoors ought to come back on her own and leave me
to play, I will suggest this later.

He doesn't have that many fans. Anyway, 11A will mean he's going up
Crickley Hill to the Air Balloon roundabout, and then along the A436 to join
    the A40 after Andoversford.

    ^^^^^^ wassat then?

Don't forget he's only going to ride it a few times then Nige it out.
May as well wring it's neck from the go. (And there are some that
subscribe to that as being a good way to run in anyway).

Well, quite. The motorway is a stupid place for any sort of running-in.

There is no way I will wring it's neck anywhere, the bike has more
capability than I ever will so I will have a squirt to around the ton
then that will do. I will have a few rides out over the next couple
of weeks perhaps to the 600 mile mark then that's it, Nige'ing it out
    will be the priority.

When I picked up the Sprint ST from Croydon, I had to head back to
Bracknell. Not having perused a map prior to this journey, I headed
off using the only route I knew; A23, M25, M3.

With HGVs bearing down on me, only moving out to lane 2 to overtake at
the very last minute, or so it seemed to me, I quickly decided that
running in on a motorway was A Bad Thing.

Of course, with HGVs limited to 56mph and me having a top speed for the
1st 100 miles of around 60mph, this couldn't happen, could it?

When I picked up the Drifter, I was told to run it in at a max of 60mph.
Now, considering the Drifter was a lardy old cruiser with a top speed of
just over the ton, and the Sprint was a sportsbike with a top speed of
several zillion, how amazing that the running-in speed should be the same!

    I bought a Drifter, not a Sprint.

there you go. you might have bought the sprint if you had known it was a
    lardybus instead of a sportsbike.

Aren't both of those bottlenecks? It's not as if it's rare to get
something upside down on Crickley Hill.

The top speed of my TZR125 while running in was 30mph. That was fun.
