I'm beginning to believe this Sharkey doesn't exist.

Well, WE enjoyed ourselves, although we did get a bit wet.

So is it now a well balanced BMW Sharks?

It was pretty foul weather in Melb on Saturday but going with the logic
that it would either rain or it wouldn't, I took off anyway. Sat behind
the rain all the way to Bairnsdale, road spray all the way. After
Bainsdale, it got better and better as I went north. It was T-shirt
weather by the time I got to the rally, luckily I'd chosen to attire
myself in my stylish aus.moto shirt, or I probably wouldn't have met
    Al.
Sunday was great, cut across the Black mountain range to Omeo, lovely
    little road.

It's one thing and then another. Now the brakes work, the
carbs have gone out of whack. I've got my redneck manometer[*]
ready to go but no use even trying until I replace
    the split throttle cables, eh?

    -----sharks
[*] five meters of 5mm pipe, a bit of wood and a few ccs of fork oil.
Squeal like a vacuum line, pig!

I considered building one of those, but weakened and bought a pair of
guages. I suspect the manometer might have been almost as easy to use
    and just as useful.

Split? Oh have you got those odd ones with the one-into-two throttle
cable splitter? They do eventually settle down......

    Or have your cables split.......

    You've apparently misspelled 'cases', Moike.

Nope, it's a double cable with bevel gear, cam, chain and widget
    setup.

The cables themselves are defective down near the carbs, the
outer metal jacket has split a little where it bends and is
thus no longer a precision fit ... this is, of course, the
fault of the rider for riding it in inferior, non-Bavarian rain.

  11. And I'm glad you realise that Herr Sharks. Any ideas where I can get some
    Japanese rain for the TDM?

They don't seem to last a long time.

On my beast the cable gets a good bending every time I check the oil.

I replace the cables as a matter of routine about every two years.
Cables are cheap, walking can be painful.

motobins have some good ones fairly cheap.

That's funny, mine have lasted 10 years... yes, all 3 of them.
Cool! Can I have your old ones? ;-)
