That would be why at the beginning of the session, when Gower asked
about people's prior experience of wheelies, you said that you'd never
    done one?
Rumbled you as a bullshit artist, though, given the above.

I'm amazed he didn't lamp you.

If you ever get to the pearly gates, and God presents you with your
heavenly RD400 for being a good boy, you'll complain that it's got the
    wrong year of speedometer needle.

  4. Silly question (as I know nowt about snowmobiles): do they have
motorcycle type gearboxes, or are they twist & go?

I'd be more concerned about whether they have snow brakes.

er, yeah. It was late. And anyway, GOTOs are considered harmful.

The ones I rode were twist and go.

  8. During one winter going to college when the snow was thick on the ground
I would borrow a neighbours Greaves 350 trails bike (Matchless ali
barrel version). It was a real hoot going up hills passing all the stuck
    and sliding cars.

I think it was a twist and go.

    Actually, it's thumb and go.

Brakes? It's the one of the rare vehicles that have more 'Go power' than
    'Woh power'...

    Good fun.

One was on the cards for last year but doing voluntary work[1] all
    year put paid to it.

I said 'properly', not 'massively, followed by falling off the back'.

I actually booked myself on to one of Mr. Gower's finest over the summer.
Unfortunately the weather forecast was so shitty (strong winds and
torrential rain), he cancelled it. Couldn't find another suitable slot that
wasn't booked up, so I've promised myself one for next year.

I noticed Mr. Blaney takes centre page at
http://www.thewheelieschool.co.uk/gallery.html. At least he wasn't in any
    danger of flipping that one.

IIRC, Veggie Dave learnt wheelies via the 'try it, fall off, repeat until
something breaks, heal / repair, try it again' technique. I get the
impression that man would be very bad for my health.

Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Lozzo
Surely the presence of an RD400 with the wrong speedo needle would mean
    it wasn't really heaven?

I'm quite tempted by that. Something to do, and it seems a bit of a shame
    not to with the Zed.

  18. Good point. *Good* point. Lozzo'll actually be in hell, with an RD400
made up out of all the wrong bits.

(Anyone remember the Shobba cartoon of the Devil putting the poor biker
in with "Ernie, who had a BSA Gold Star, don't make them like that any
more, bet it would be worth thousands now...."?)

You're dead right, I can think of nothing worse than having one small,
but very noticeable part wrong, and not being able to find a
    replacement.
