    Or

    1. Buy a Rotax 500 crosser, throw some lights on.
    2. Start engine, (this may take a while) engage gear, pull away
    3 Open throttle.
4 Repeat for remaining gears, (you may need the clutch to do this in top)
    5 change oil and filters

Snow isn't that bad to ride on, if it's not slushy snow, or slushy with
    sheet ice under.

I've done all that and I still can't wheelie.

Every time I try, I can hear my wallet going "you really don't want to
    get this wrong".

Yup, Gilles screwed a few people in his time.

Some nutter put a snow mobile engine into a hill climb bike. Went quite
    well it did.

I did meet him once. He was doing a promo at the NEC. Bald as a coot
having just completed chemo for his Hodgkins disease. Unfortunately, I
was with a mate who hails from Lancaster. Apparently they knew each
other quite well. I gave up trying to join in as they seemed to be
speaking a foreign language. Some sort of Lancs/Yorks cross border
    hybrid.

So, I don't really have a clue how he pronounces his name!

Jamie doesn't talk to people, he shouts. I find it quite amusing. I won
an argument with him once. He's got an RD250D with 700 miles on the
clock that has been given a tidy up by the kind gents down at Mitsui
Yamaha, I pointed out the incorrect bits on it. He did some research and
    found I was right.

    Dead proud I was.

heh. OK, do it like this:

    10 throttleOpening = 10 (degrees)
    20 acclerate in first
    30 if wheelie <> true, then throttleOpening = throttleOpening+5
    40 goto 10

Indeed. I once rode the CBR1000 all the way from TCR to Acton in
around 3" of snow, and we fell off on the drive( a good 15' from the
front door), where a neighbour had helpfully put table salt down.

Highlight was descending Ladbroke Grove (I think), sideways, with my
left foot on the floor. Linda was most impressed. Until we fell off.

Heh. I rode my Z400 50 odd miles from Gloucester to Oxford in the
snow. And somewhere I've got pictures of my 750 turbo on snowy roads.

Kids today, don't know they're born etc etc

Try the same thing going to a rally in Wales on a fully laden Beckett
proddy tuned RD400 in a fierce snowstorm.

That was a fun trip, but I must have been fucking mental to have got
past Milton Keynes without turning round for home. IIRC some stupid sod
set off from Scotland for the same rally on the Friday night, and just
about got there for Sunday at about 11am, when everyone else was packing
    up to go home.

And the exit from the loop is when you bin it, is it? Or when the
    throttle cable snaps?

See what happens when project managers try to get down wif da techies?
