    ..........the bike type.

    I have a 2001 1200 Bandit and have a misfire which I have tracked to a HT
lead problem. As they are not separate from the coils I have had to source
    new coils/leads together.

My question is that I have sourced some from a 1998 bandit and the part
numbers are slightly different. I know that Suzuki are often guilty of
changing part numbers without any actual differences but what are the views
about how these coils may differ?

Is there a danger that the wrong specs could damage the engine?

    Thanks,

    Mark

It's highly unlikely to damage the engine but if the components are
mismatched it may damage other parts of the ignition system, CDI etc.

Find a friendly(?) Suzuki dealer and him them check the tech specs in the
workshop manuals between the two bikes/coils.

Get yourself a multimeter, set it to resistance (ohms) take the primary and
secondary resistance of the known good coil of the pair on your bike and
    compare it with the replacement.
