Did you off-rode it at all when you road it?
hahahhaha!
oh - I thought you might be complaining about the stiffness. Surely the "problem"[1] with the biting point is adjustable? [1] I can't remember what it was like
It probably is. However, the biting point being in the wrong place is my excuse for fluffing up just about every first pull-away I do on someone else's bike. After a few gear changes I'm usually on it, but that B12 takes longer which I attribute to either the heaviness prevents me using it gently or I'm a PFF.
Well, of course *you* wouldn't. But, given that I'm a fan of a) The Who, and b) Ken Russell, it's one of my favourites.
I don't mind The Who, and I like some Ken Russell movies ("The Devils" is, predictably, a favourite). I just have never gotten around to watching "Tommy" the whole way through in one sitting - I'm pretty sure I've seen every scene, IYSWIM. It couldn't be any near as good as "24 Hour Party People" in any case.
Nothing comes close to "Lair of the white worm" I'm afraid. It's a class act which has been unfairly maligned by some film snobs with no appreciation of the finer things in life. -- AndrewR, D.Bot (Celeritas) Kawasaki ZX-6R J1 BOTAFOT#2,ITJWTFO#6,UKRMRM#1/13a,MCT#1,DFV#2,SKoGA#0 (and KotL) BotToS#5,SBS#25,IbW#34, TEAR#3 (and KotL), DS#5, COSOC#9, KotTFSTR# The speccy Geordie twat.
Right, bonny lad. I made a bit of a study of the Bandit12 when I was fortunate enough to have one. They have clutch 'issues', see. First off, a race can *will* liberate ~10bhp. My Scorpion made a big difference to mine all through the range and sounded a sight better than the standard sewing machine impersonator too. Freeing up that 10% will have an effect on the clutch, which, if not brandly new, slip a little on full chat as it gets a go on in second and third (first as well if you're really brave). If you use fully synth oil it will slip a lot. Everywhere. The best way to obviate the slippage is to use a 'heavy duty' clutch. Apparently the plates are a bit 'better'. I dunno what that means, tbh. The functional point is the diaphragm springs - they squeeze the plates together a bit harder - and take more pressure to release. The tried and tested way to uprate the clutch is to change *one* spring for a Barlow spring. Barlow springs are the 'heavy duty' type, and they are sold *only in pairs*. Fit two Barlow springs and you need the grip of a blacksmith to squeeze the lever - or at least, to repeatedly squeeze it, if you are negotiating town traffic, for example. Conventional wisdom dictates buying a pair (for ~20 quid) and fitting one and flogging the other to a Bandit-owning pal. Leave one of the existing springs in place, see. IIWY and assuming the clutch is fucked (standard B12 clutches are a bit marginal and wear swiftly in the urban environment) then I'd get a cheap set of plates and a pair of Barlow springs from a Suzuki dealer (they'll know what you want) or one of the Bandit specialists. Fit the plates and one of the springs - then try it. Fit both if you feel strong, but wax the gasket before refitting so it will come off for swappage in a couple of days. And I'd stick a cheap race can on it, and make sure the wires are disconnected - then get used to leaning forward sharply on every overtake. I swear I overtook more cars on A roads on one wheel than two, as the fucker picked up off catseyes, ripples in the road and white lines everywhere. Fucking brilliant, it was.
Not true at all; first off hardly any burds get their tits out (an when Amanda what-do-ya-mac-call-her does she's painted blue). It's got a plot which whips along fast enough, it has a couple of scary(ish) moments and it doesn't have a silly happy ending tacked on to it. All in all it really doesn't deserver the awful reputation that it enjoys and it is Mr Russell at his unrestrained best. -- AndrewR, D.Bot (Celeritas) Kawasaki ZX-6R J1 BOTAFOT#2,ITJWTFO#6,UKRMRM#1/13a,MCT#1,DFV#2,SKoGA#0 (and KotL) BotToS#5,SBS#25,IbW#34, TEAR#3 (and KotL), DS#5, COSOC#9, KotTFSTR# The speccy Geordie twat.
Champ says... They have a diaphragm type clutch spring as standard, much the same as the R1. A common mod is to double up on the springs using one aftermarket heavy duty one and a knackered standard one. Apparently if two heavy duty ones are fitted it makes the clutch action worse than a Jotas.

Champ says... You can convert R1 clutches to take a multi-spring arrangement, but they cost a fortune.
