Clutch/brake assistance

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Phil Launchbury, Jul 16, 2004.

  1. I'm looking to see if there are any ways of lightening the pull
required for the clutch (and possibly the brake) levers on my Tiger
955i.. I can only ride for about 1/2 an hour before the tendons in my
left hand start objecting violently to having to pull in the clutch.

    Any ideas?

Widen the handlebars & fasten long bits of tube over the brake and
    clutch lever ends.

Predictable perhaps, but have you thought about developing your
clutchless gearchange skills? The 955i gearbox is quite happy with
these, both up and down the box if you can get it right.

What about a quickshifter? Might not help with the pulling off/stopping side
of things, but would work for everything else.

  6. Clutchless will be okay for on the move, but presumably you'll
want it at other points in the ride as well...

Have you asked over on uk.people.disability.bikers?

  7. I think the arthritis (root cause of the tendon damage) might
    preclude that..

  8. The 1/2 an hour is *with* the upshift clutchless gearshifts :-(

OK, trade it in for one of those Rocket things, then you'll never have
    to change gear.

Ahh. OK maybe the quickshifter solution's what you need. I also STR
that foot-operated front brake conversions are available, though I
guess the nabd has more detail on this.

  14. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Phil Launchbury
    Hydraulic or cable clutch?
