Clunky BMW?

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Don & Cheryle Smith, Dec 10, 2007.

  1. I am looking at buying a 2002 BMW R1150 RT with 60,000k. I have not ridden a
BMW before so I am not sure what to expect.

I took it for a test ride yesterday and absolutely loved it but was a bit
concerned about drive train clunks. The gear box is smooth and changes
nicely but it seemed to clunk after the change. To my non educated ear it
might have been clutch or perhaps a universal joint (if it has them).

I read a ride report on the net which mentioned something similar but the
testers comment was that the test bike had less than 5000k and he expected
it would most likely get better with more K's.

Can anyone with BMW experience please comment .

    Thanks
    Don

Get the driveline checked by a BMW expert, these things are very expensive
to repair and the time to make sure is before you own it.

Some driveline damage is caused by poor riding practices.
