"clogged oil passage" '81 Honda CB650

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by Live2Ride_Colorado, Jun 24, 2006.

  1. Help. Looking for advice/suggestions. Bike started lossing power in
low speed/gears. Pulled plugs. Looked ok. Removed gas tank and
removed left and right adjustment covers and the center breather cover.
Rocker arms looked ok. Cranked engine a couple of times and noticed
only the right half of the rocker arms and cam shaft were getting
bathed in oil. The left side was dry. I cannot afford to take the
bike to the shop and I really do not wish to "tear" the engine apart.
Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Mix some ATF into your oil. It's way low viscosity, so you don't want to
run the engine hard, but it has a variety of detergents that will clean out
    much oil crud. Or:
    2. Mix some kerosene into your oil and let it idle about 10 minutes before
draining the oil. Kero is the old fashioned version of engine flush.
    3. Buy a can of "engine flush" and follow the directions...
