Bought a 98 CBR600F. Crackin bike. Runs well. Previous owner commuted
all year round on it. Few things I want to tidy up. Any tips on the
    following?

    1. foot rests, rear brake pedal, side stand and gear lever - patches
are a bit rusty. Autosol? Might try and buy a few spares from ebay if
    they're available.

    2. Black paint from handle bars near ignition is scuffed where a second
key was on the bike key ring. Want to smarten that up. Any ideas?

    3. What do peeps clean down pipes and frame with? I'll be taking all
fairing off and giving everything a good once over.

    4. Will be checking the state of sprockets but chain looks full of crap
so may well be replacing chain and sprockets. Quoted £105.71 (inc.
VAT) for DID Professional X RING (Gold plates) and front and rear
sprockets. Also looking at getting a scottoiler fitted but the extra
£111 notes to have one bought and fitted for me is a bit heavy.

    Ta.

Autosol is good. Many other products on the market just like it and
    cheaper though.

    Leave it.

Chemical solvents such as soapy water.

Try and get hold of a polishing kit that does the work for you - I got
one from Aldi a while ago that was nice and cheap, and I know that
Maplins stock them too. Saves on all the finger work, let the gadget
do it all for you and a lot quicker.

Oh, I managed to get a pair really nice set of aftermarket front 'pegs
off Ebay for a mere tenner, looks like I've got a bit more competition
in the future for other bits ;o)
A yoke protector? Usually around the £10 mark I think.
With all the plastic on this bike, do you really think that's
necessary? Do you know if you still have the standard downpipes on or
    stainless steel?
I got a chain off Ebay for £30..

    I like Ebay.
