I'm helping my mate do up her CB500s for sale as she can't ride it at
the moment and is looking to sell rather than leave it gathering dust.

The rear shocks are covered in rust so other than Autosol and elbow
grease, any tips on cleaning them up?

Any ideas on price? Tentative trade in without seeing it was about
    £1500, which isn't as much as she thought/wants [1]:

    X Reg 2000 CB500s
    18k Miles
    Newish tyres, chain and sprockets.

Several low speed spills but nothing major wrong as far as my (lack of)
    knowledge can tell.

    It's been 2 years since I rode a 500cc twin. Blimey there's a bit of a
difference after the Fazer. I had the throttle pinned in 1st, 2nd and
3rd and then gave up waiting for the engine to catch up!

    <snip>
The very best way is to dissolve a tin of black treacle in hot water , place
    solution in bucket
with desired rusty object , ensuring solution covers rusty object completely and
    come back 3
weeks later. All traces of rust will be gone leaving bare steel in its
    place.Protect said bare
steel immediately otherwise repeat ad infinitum.
