so its ot toobad, but the tank looks ike someone has taken a dump
inside it..full of 'orrible brown gloop...anyone got any bright ideas
of the best way to return from a comode to a uitable containr for
    petrol and oil?

  3. I'd swill it out with clean petrol a few times then fill it with Tesco value
cola and leave it to soak for 24 hours.

I have struggled to find a decent solvent in the UK. In the US there is
apparently some kind of carb cleaning bucket available (forget the
name), but you have to make sure you get all of the rubber bits out first.

I have had some success with ultrasonic cleaning, but still searching
for the best liquid to use.

Brake fluid works best on the gum/varnish deposits. Again, make sure you've
removed the rubber o-rings etc first.

In that case, just drive it to Tesco and get someone to do it for a
fiver while you go and get your weekly shopping in.

  10. That'll be the old petrol. 'Orrible, innit? You seem to have mis-spelled
shit though. Most of us are grown ups here so you can actually say it.

If it's still manky and rusty after the first soaking empty it, chuck a
length of chain or a handful of screws/bolts in the tank, and shake it as
though your life depended on it. Empty, rinse, repeat etc.

    Who's Will?
