Oh that happened *ages* back ............... About when they brought in
revenue cameras and re-branded the majority of competent riders/drivers from
citizens to something to be predated as an income stream.

I'd reckon its fewer than 20% of the Old Bill that I've spoken to who are
even a bit happy about the way things are going generally.

I recently spotted an ad for parking control people in Bristol
offering something like £6.25 per hour with a shift pattern covering
    24 hours a days.

Carrillion (also sp?) have a lot of security and maintenance contracts
with the NHS. IME they are a useless shower of shits who charge extra
for everything they can think of (like if an alarm goes off at night
they charge to go and reset it, even if it was their chap who set it and
    'forgot' to close a window).

  10. more like it is a crap contract that allows them to make such charges or
else crap contract management that allows them to get away with such
    nonsense.

Almost certainly, but that's what happens when public sector employees
suddenly find themselves having to negotiate contracts as everything
is outsourced, having previously lived a happy little existence where
    everything is done in-house.

It's probably getting better now as they wake up to what is going on
and send the poor sods on some training courses (or bring in outside
talent), but you'll be better placed to comment on that than me.

  15. What rules. On the TV news the other night when this 'Traffic Warden'
thing came up. One area where there was an incentive program to ticket
as many as possible to get a bonus, one warden was ticketing buses
stopping for passengers if the bus did not fit exactly in the bus stop
    area.

    It's madness.

  16. I read some where that these off shore call centres are illegal as they
contravene the 'Data Protection Act'. Any company (your bank) providing
personal details to an off shore company for use is open to a very heavy
    fine.

    So what's happening?

Well, specifically the ones referring to box junction,s no right turns
and parking in damn fool places.
Yes indeed that is madness. But madness caused by bad implementation
    of a good idea IMHO

On the telly news last night, the reporter was saying that this would
    free-up police man-power.

I have never seen the police stake-out a box junction.

Yep. That bit sounds like bollocks to me as well. More bad
    implementation of a good idea.
