Went and got one o them easibleed thingys from halfords for 3.5 UKP which
seems to have done the trick, much better brakes now!!

Well not really. In practice there's much more flow restriction
through the bleed nipple than the master cyclinder, so it's unlikely
to suck very much back through. But doing the above and just crimping
the tube on the back-stroke is a damn sight easier than taping the
lever and tightening the bleed nipple each time.
