    what bluff?

Pete's already planted the seeds by saying it's an ideal bike for
having a try at hill climbing on and I've always said that you never
retire from racing, you just postpone your next race.

I know I'll be crap but I sure as **** won't come last unless I go for
    the crash and burn option.

I think I can guarantee you won't come last as long as I am there. Last
in class (the 750 class being very competitive these days) can't be
ruled out but is still unlikely at a meeting with a big entry.

You would both also enjoy the night before, in the Green Ranger bar, at
the Hartland Quay Hotel. The course is a bit short, but a definitive
    hill climb.

If you both get your act together for late March/early April I will even
do it myself though I haven't been for a few years.

On bike video to whet the appetite

Have you got friends that can frig the results? I'll donate plenty of
beers to ensure a higher place than Champ.
Game on. All you need to do is persuade Champ that it won't be too
cold, sort him a bike, feed him Immodium and we're away.
That looks fun, maybe not fun on the 10R but fun on a KTM.

The only snag could be if it clashes with the start of a major outage
at one of the nuclear stations but I can always try to swing my long
weekend to tie in with the meeting.

Feeble excuse. Punt out that ageing 600, use Slicks bikes for the GP
    and buy the cr500.

The Nordwest could be available again if required. Even less competitive
at Hartland than at Prescott though on account of the bumps. Slightly
more of a fair match against the KTM than a CR500 perhaps (except
heavier?, less power - 55 at the back wheel ?, and crap suspension)

I was thinking of taking the nordie rather than the tart TBH, but I
suppose if I bimble up on the Voxan I might claim a point or two in the
    road legal championship.

Road legal championship? That sounds ready made for my bike.

When it gets a bit closer to the event you'll need to either email me
or post details on here. I've got a few nasty bits of road near me I
can practice on, failing that I'll bung the bike in the back of my van
and practice in the Lakes when I'm supposed to be working.

Well I think the usual form is "seeding".
That was more of a struggle than it ought to have been. I couldn't get
the torrent creation bit of PupCtorrent (on the Puppy Linux box) to
leave out a port entry in the tracker string. Even with port field set
to blank it insisted on putting a : in the tracker which statto's set up
    gagged on.

So this and anything else I upload will have to be done using utorrent
on the XP box for the moment until I can get a less pikey torrent client
that a non linux guru can install. I would revert the old PII 400 to XP,
but it has to be said that it runs a lot quicker as it is.

It appears to be showing up OK on UKRMNOva, but the proof will be in the
    pudding.

BTW I went for speed not quality so it's a fairly small (493 Mb) MPEG1
    file.

Ah, well the rules say no MX based machines. The new breed of over the
counter supermotos has created a bit of a problem. The Nordwest was
always accepted because it came with 17inch Hi Sports as OEM and had a
    luggage rack.

We still don't allow the 'real' supermotos, even with indicators etc.
The guy on the 950SM runs race tyres so is excluded. You would have to
seek approval from the NHCA Road Legal Championship secretary - now I
    wonder who that might be?
In any case, this year anyone who didn't do at least 10 rounds didn't
get on the road legal podium.
I'll email you with a provisional date as soon as I have one (mid
    January at the latest).

Purton close enough? Should complete next Thursday, after which I'll
have space for several tens of bikes.

I am rather looking forward to it, despite the amount of work that
needs doing, what with it being a 200 year old cottage that doesn't
appear to have been touched for at least 300 years.

Indeed. I thought that since dog brought Trumpton into it, and given
the subject of this thread, that it was a logical follow-up. But maybe
    it's just me.

Just get on with it. You know it'll be a laugh and that old
competitive feeling must be nibbling away at you.

    Andy Bonwick, Dec 11, 2007
  20. I'll raise that with working Boxing day and also having to use a days
leave to have the (compulsory) Xmas day off.

Mind you, my rest days mean I have from 22nd to 25th off so that's a
    reasonable break I suppose.
    Christmas Humbug anyone?
