Thanks to everybody who responded to this thread.

Special thanks to those who recommended a single-piece full-face instead of
a flip-up.

Bought a HJC CL-14 (Snell, oz standard) glass composite and it is WAAAYYY
quieter than any of the BMW Series series helments!

It's pretty good...nice fit, very good anti-fog and ventilation...and MUCH
cheaper!

Went to a couple of dealers here in Perth and they told me that the mobike
cops in Perth were switching from BMW flip-ups to the HJC flip-ups (don't
those dudes ride Hondas?).

One confounding thing while trying out various helmets was the fact there
are so many variations in size...not only between manufacturers but also
within the same manufacturer's range...totally crazy. No standard at all
apparently. What is small in one model turns out to be L in another and in
yet another an XL will fit just as well!

Also picked up a pair of Gaerne road boots...
