Ibis Calais Coquelles booked for the Friday night, tunnel booked for
21:50 Friday and 18:50 Sunday night.

That'll be me getting pissed on nasty Belgian beer and eating dog
    burger and chips for breakfast.

    How much was the tunnel?

I'm yet to book anything, but ISTR it involving a lot less hanging about
    than the ferry.

mine was £73 but Andy's was £77 cos he hit enter 30 secs after me and
they said there was none more available at my price and he had to
    re-do the booking.

It's the time factor that's made us go for the tunnel. It's closer to
home and the check in is quicker so I can drive home from Warrington,
load the bike and get over to Calais earlier than if we go by ferry.

In the absence of a bar I'm taking my own because I'm not going to
    France without alcohol in me.

I thought there was a bar on the chunnel train? Do you have stay with
the bikes in transit or can you move about?

Not on the vehicle train; are you thinking of the Eurostar?
Stay with the bikes; there's ****-all to look at inside or outside, and
they get a bit upset if you go wandering off, even if it's just to go
and talk to your OHs somewhere else in a car somewhere else in the train.

.... but if you have Tesco Clubcard vouchers, you can redeem them against
the Eurotunnel for four times their face value.

My understanding is that you stay with the bike and watch it sway
around as if it's going to fall over.

I've been meaning to use the tunnel ever since a friend of mine
wheelied his 996SPS while still on the train (1) and they banned him
from going on there again. This would have been ok if he hadn't been
on the wrong side of the water and got so sea sick he'd puke on the
Serpentine. Obviously I wont be making the same mistake.

    (1) I tried to be a clever **** and wheelie the 9R on a cross channel
ferry deck but the bastard went sideways and nearly spat me off. Never
    again.

Probably better company around the bike anyway.
Ah, yes. I know exactly how he feels.

Yes, that's the one were were on, I thought it was the same thing.
Cunts. What do you do for a piss then, out the door?

Not any more, they're quite happy to stagger the bikes throughout the
    train, now.

But keep in mind that you need to book at least two weeks in advance
    with those.

My lad always wants one 'le shuttle'. No problem once you get the hang
of negotiating the airlock type doors between the carriages to reach the
    nearest official piss corner.

    Rubbish.

Anyway, between the panniers and the crash bungs I could probably just
lie it on the floor without any damage.

Given what our post's been like recently, I'm not holding my breath. I
just hope a certain eagerly-anticipated letter from a large government
    department hasn't gone astray...

And I'm booked on the 12:42 on the Friday, returning on the 11:50 on the
    Monday.

I'm rather worried that I'll be tempted to take the 5ta rather than the
ZXR750 or one of the Beemers.
