And (let's be fair about this) some of the best racing you're likely
to see first-hand. The old codgers on their ShiteOldBikes really don't
hang around: they thrash the tits off them. Plus you can get this ---
weekend's access costs something silly like 20 euros.

A word of warning to all newbies: beware the Chimay Bleu. 9% ABV (red
is 7% IIRC, and they do a wimpy 5% lager for the sheilas).

And, of course, they're back to the full five-mile circuit now, aren't
    they?

I issue a challenge: who is up for a booze-walk round the entire
circuit? The idea is to have a beer in each and every one of the
Chimay tents and trackside bars on the way. Should take.... oh, maybe
four hours? Has anyone done it?

No, but extra points are scored for doing so.

In past years we've had Champ with his self-lighting Turbo, Sweller's
Guzzi, Nigel's CBX and probably others I've forgotten. I've taken a
Z400 twin, 400 Four, Z650 with the exhaust lashed together with
asbestos bandage, and a CB750. Part of the fun is coaxing a SOB there
    and back.

Nigel has/had a CBX? Do you mean SD?
    I took Blaney's 400/four there. But, **** that shit - I'll be going on
something vaguely modern and fast this year, hopefully.

And Platy's self-unrighting cruiser thing was definitely up the S
part, if not specifically the OB.

well, despite my misgivings, and subject to some last minute
horsetrading, I will have a choice between a supermoto and a lardy old
    sports tourer. Similar choice.

How do you figure 700 miles? Have I misunderstood where you live?
Google Maps gives 275 miles from Enfield to Chimay.
