    You're such a blinkered mong.

Chimay was not only an enjoyable real life social motor-cycling event it
    was watching primarily 40s, 50s, 60s and early 70s racing machinery -
    that is British and Italian.

It has to be said though, the 60s Hondas that were there kept winning.

The people I met last weekend were real enough and all of them (except my
mate Graham who also came) I met through Usenet.

  6. He reminded me of the fella from the BT adverts that used to be the son in
that crap BBC1 sitcom with Zoe Wankamucker in it.

It's an area where we're going to have to beg to differ, although I
recognise that due to _my_ belief that Usenet != real life, I may have been
somewhat less considerate in my previous posts, than I could have been.

This little exchange also clears up a question that had been in my mind
concerning the iR1, and that was mainly due to my _disbelief_ that it was
being blown out of all proportion. So I had to keep it going for two
reasons: i) I knew that some of my stalkers from AADP were lurking on UKRM,
and the iR1 had been 'created' specifically _for_ AADP, and ii) I genuinely
believed that it had ****-all to do with anyone, what bike I rode or didn't
    ride.

I still believe that UKRM was _way_ out of line with the unjustifiable
invasions of my private life which appeared to me (no doubt due to the
aforementioned belief that this isn't real life) to 'blur' dangerously (and
unacceptably) the line between that, and online life.

  11. For lighthearted post-bottle-of-port amusement it does have its
    moments.

It used to be _de rigeur_ to lurk on a newsgroup before posting. I mean
'lurk' to get the 'lie of the land', not just lurk with no intention of
    contributing.

I find it a bit bizarre, too. It'd be like standing in a pub with a pint,
listening to ten people having a multitude of conversations, without ever
    joining in.

My understanding is that one UKRM's wife even shagged the sad **** in some
    misplaced sympathy act.

My previous Astra had its original battery (sealed, maintenance-free type)
for the entire 12 years of its life, and was still going strong when the car
    was nicked and written off.

My Trident on the other hand is on its third battery in 13 years.

My SV650S battery is in its seventh year of service despite being
*completely* flattened at least four times by leaving the heated
grips on while parked, and having no attention paid to it whatsoever
    during winter storage.

    Sealed batteries do indeed rock.

  18. Really. You want to drop into uk.rec.gardening, where I have recently
taken up an alternative residence. Just like here it is only with more
wimmin and less bad language but in all other respects just the same
    including a non existent clique.

The first British sitcom written in the American style of having a
group of writers fighting for lines, I believe.
