I did get out onto the public road but I looked the wrong way and nearly
threw the lot in front of Peugeot - well I did but fortunately the
Peugeot driver hadn't had the best part of two bottles of wine so no harm
    done.

My passengers - one quite skimpily attired - screamed a bit.

We then set off up the public road and I saw much Armco and started
whimpering [1]. Returning to the campsite saw me stuck in a small swamp.

I think I may get another outfit.

actually it was on the way back I decided to bail.

almost hitting a car on the way out [1], almost hitting the kerb on
turning round, almost hitting a post on the way back in and finally
getting it stuck in some mud did it for me.

[1] look the right way next time huh!

    Lying toerag.

The rear axle had unwound itself sufficiently to allow the wheel to drift
clear of the splines. Suddenly the gearbox appeared full of false neutrals.
Obviously this wasn't the case, so I dived off onto the hard shoulder, dug
out a couple of spanners and retightened the thing. Then I noticed a biker
pulled over a couple of hundred yards up the road, so I drove up to see if
he needed help. Turned out to be some looney with an ancient black oily
heap of a bike who'd stopped for a nosey. Then the black and tans turned up
to chase off the rubbernecker. I managed to convince them not to arrest
him - I think they were more impressed by my forebearance and magnanimity
than anything else - then sent him packing, and drove off myself.

Just don't try to ford anything with it - remember what happened to the last
turbo you did that with. And there's many more flooded roads around your
    vicinity now.

We'll have to find a nice clear area so I can give you some proper
instruction. Outfits are neither malevolent nor uncontrollable; all it
needs is practice and a little understanding.

    Too bloody right I was.

To put things in perspective for a moment: I didn't actually fit on
the seat; "Platy's ring"(tm)[1] seemed a little unsafe, and required
me to place my hand within a couple of inches of your bumcrack, and
Bonwick was alternately trying to offer me more beer (by throwing it
over my T-shirt) or disconnect the battery master switch.

Then there was your "enthusiastic" riding style, and the way the thing
weaved all over the shop under braking.

I defy anyone else not to scream under the same torture.

[1] It looks substantial enough, but it soon becomes apparent that
there's nothing structural within the perished rubber of the grab
    handle at all.

    I haven't just got home.
I was late for my crossing, so I ended up on the 1520. Got chatting to an
old guy from St Albans with a Free State accent and a Rolls Silver Wraith II
in brg, who greatly admired the outfit and showed me his Telegraph with
    pictures of the floods.

Perhaps an ability not to rush to some sort of Manichaean snap judgement at
the first sign of apparent waywardness would be an asset.
