Chile - no used bike imports

Indeed, although I'd probably term it paternalism. The same was said to me
by the good men and women of UKRM when I ordered my FJR. 'it's too
powerful - you'll lob it down the road!'

And TOG's voice pips up from the back: 'you _did_ lob it down the road!'

Indeed. At 15 mph. So it had absolutely sweet ****-all to do with its
    being 'too powerful for me'.

It really needs to be looked after in a garage full of Hondas.

What about, for instance, someone on a 'world tour' riding a bike in,
getting pissed off with touring, thus selling it in Chile and flying
    home?

Whether it'd be worth shipping a bike and rider close enough to ride it
over the border might be a consideration though ...

Otherwise I might be tempted by the GPz or a TS .. ;)

  5. Diplomatic bag is a wide term. Can't you get yourself appointed Honorary
    Consul or something?

That's Latin America. Chile is rather more enlightened than other
countries I've visited there, but it reverts to sterotype sometimes.

Then you ride into the back of the bus that stopped at the bus stop.

You would want to sell it to someone who really cares about 400 4's.....

Sounds much like USA where they charge more for imported beers.

I thought pretty much everywhere charged more for imported beers. Exotic
    and far-travelled, you see.

    Baloney. It's a 3rd world country, ffs. There's _always_ a way. Find a
connected attorney, high-placed bureaucrat, someone you can
brib^h^h^h^h make a political donation to. You can make it happen.

I had this conversation with a newbie the other day, wanted to go from
    a learner legal 125 to an R1 [1]

'It'll do 0-60 in under 3 seconds and it'll do over a ton in 1st, what
are you going to do with the other 5 gears' ?

I don't think he was expecting them to be quite that quick. Maybe he
was thinking of some litrebike from the 70's ?

    Paul.

[1] Though how he was intending to insure it I don't know...

Do the same speeds but without screaming it at the redline on a fraction
    of full throttle, of course.

Of course not. That distinction is reserved for the UK.
