Nope. If I'm going to speed I'd do it properly at speeds that would
get me jailed. Otherwise I tend to stick roughly to the limits.

Some doubts about whether or not the signage was obvious for a legitimate
temporary speed restriction so in the interest of fairness he withdraws
the fines. Sounds pretty sensible to me.

Temporary speed restrictions through roadworks are, IMO, legitimate sites
    for cameras.

As long as they are operational only when roadworks are actually happening.

And I'd like to see him do it too, as JP has always maintained that
being jailed or speeding is not possible.

Maybe, but I think 150 odd mph speeds would be classed as dangerous
driving and I think you can be jailed for that.

According to JP it's never happened.

I believe you are right and, presumably, they received advice that trying to
plead that 150mph wasn't dangerous wasn't going to work.

That's quite a presumption. JP's advice was to cope for the speeding
and plead not guilty to the dangerous driving. He thinks they were
insane to plead guilty to DD.

Anyway, 150 isn't dangerous, is it.

I think it's quite a reasonable presumption, the bigger question is whether
the advice that they received was good or not.
I don't think it would take that much to convince the magistrates that doing
    150 was dangerous.

Do you remember the DiRE journalist who got done for dangerous for crossing
a solid white line? He pleaded not guilty, the copper who had nabbed him
said that, in his opinion, he hadn't been riding dangerously and he still
got 100 hours of community service.
"I wish to bring it to the court's attention that we are currently orbiting
the sun at a speed in excess of 65,000mph without any apparent danger".

Crashing at 30 is more dangerous than not crashing at 150...

It's 150 times more dangerous than 1 mile an hour!
