Probably. But it didn't cost me hundreds of pounds, so I don't need to get
all defensive if it doesn't work...

Nah, up the road and round the corner. Not usually a Triumph dealer. They
weren't open today, so I'll pop round after work tomorrow and give them the
    bad news.

That'll be the reason we saw you coming the other way going in the opposite
direction to where you needed to be going. ;-)

  7. My planning involved a quick look the night before, another look and
discussion on the boat. In total about 5 minutes of preparation, no
stops until Abbiville{sp} where GPS may have saved me a bit of faffing
but would have cost ~£400 more than my cheap map.

My planning was to have a look at the map about a month before, and then
remember to pack it the night before. Do nothing on the ferry, and then
follow TOG for the rest of the journey. Works every time. And a heck of a
    lot cheaper than GPS.

Ok, I'll rephrase. All of the people I have seen with GPS on a motorcycle
    have the map reading
skills of a blind gimp. That should exclude you. ;-)

You need better mirrors. With telephoto attachments.

This was our non-GPS short cut through Amiens on Sunday.

So after spending all that money on the GPS, you ignored what it was telling
you and followed Dodger instead? Spesh.

Well, I'd just got a new antenna for mine. I was testing it out.
Except that I hadn't asked it to find a route, and was just following
    Tim'n'Anne.

It just kept track of where we'd been.

Oh, and pointed out that we were travelling East on the N43 at one
    point, instead of West.

When I left last year's EOSM with Big Tony and Sean, I was still in
the midst of a tremendous hangover. As you'll know, you can turn out
of the pub car park, go left and past the front of the pub or right as
past the back of the pub and you basically stay on one road and you
    get to Derby.

Big Tony's GPS took us down the first road on the right. Then the
first left. Then the first right. Then the first left. By this
point we were going down unclassified roads not wide enough for a car
to drive through without the bushes scratching the paintwork.

    GPS is shit.
