  1. He is being a greedy ****, but that's life. Unfortunately he's doing
nothing that can be used against him. Apart from being a ****,
    obviously.

  2. Actually, yes there is: he's breaking Ebay rules by artificially loading
the P&P to evade their fees.

He's also withholding his contact details and has furnished Ebay with a
    phone number that isn't is.

Plus he's a ****, as you say. Well, so am I if I have to be.

  3. Ah, no. He can claim he's sending it by van courier at 50ukp.

  4. No, he can't, because he was quoting second class signed-for post.

Wtf. It's over now anyway. I'll be more careful before a click a BIN
button. I hope he'll decide not to try ripping people off, but...

I disagree, if he calls at house, no postage required, so seller cannot
    charge.

    To save some time:

    Oh yes, he can.

    Oh no, he can't.

No ones blameless in this one.

  8. Oh, quite. I would suggest, though, that my failure to read his p&p
terms before clicking on BIN isn't quite in the same league has his
attempts at fee evasion, his giving false details to Ebay, and his
saying: "Come and collect if you want but it'll still cost you £50."

    I've been a careless ****. He's a nasty ****.

Out of interest, if the T&Cs had said £500 for p&p, do you think that
would have put a different perspective on it?

I have no argument that he's taking the piss on the postage but, and I'm
not trying to be holier than thou here, I would have asked the
    collection question before bidding.

It's pretty clear that he was loading a chunk of the price on to the p&p
and, in general, that puts me off due to the potential difficulty in
getting shipping refunded if there's a problem. Cunts who load the p&p
tend to be reluctant to accept that they have an obligation to refund it
    when everything goes pear-shaped.

I don't carry any torch for ebay but if a seller thinks he's being a bit
fly by screwing ebay for the fees, is he going to be any more honest
    with me?

The price was £30, not £80. I wouldn't add postage & packing to
something that I didn't have to post & pack, & it wouldn't have crossed
my mind that anyone else would either. So in this case, I would've hit
BIN thinking I'd get it for £30, as TOG did, & been a tad pissed off to
find out *after* that it would be £80. *If* the seller had said no to
collection, it would be a different matter. But as he is obviously
happy for TOG to collect them, he's just being a sneaky, dishonest ****.
    That's so absurd it's hysterical.

  13. Quite. I should have.
Agree 100%. As has been pointed out, loading the postage is against Ebay
    rules, too:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-shipping.html
    As above.

  15. I don't think I have sold *one* Ducati item in all my seven years on
Ebay. Not one. I don't sell Ducati stuff. I occasionally buy Ducati
stuff because I have a Ducati.

Secondly, the seller only has a feedback of 16 (well, 15 now), garnered
over five years, which suggests that, in addition to not selling the
same stuff as I sell, he's not selling much stuff anyway. So why should
I suddenly get worried because he's selling a pair of Ducati silencers?

Checking the negs he's left others strongly suggests he's a bit of a
    ****, too.

I don't suppose you've actually verified any of the three points listed
above, though. It would mean doing some research and logical thinking,
which is never your strong point.

  17. It wouldn't, I only accept cash for collections for the very same reason.

  18. I see he has left you a "non-positive" positive feedback. You can get this
removed as it is against Ebay rules for sellers to leave negative comments
in positive feedback, just file a report.

  19. Oh, cool. Got the link (I find it a bugger, sorting out where Ebay
    stashes the forms for everything).

Earlier this year I was selling a £20 item with £3 post. Sales started well
but began to slow. I check other sellers and some are doing the same item
for (eg) £9.99 and £15 post. Annoyingly, they were picking alot more sales
than me. Ok, if you can't beat 'em join 'em. I open a new account and keep
listing at increasing lower sales price with P&P rising according. Ended up
down at 99p with £22 post. I was just pushing to find the breaking point
where eBay would pull listings for fee avoidance.

To all but the lowest of IQ's it was pretty obvious what the crack was. I
would still get messages asking if they could call with 99p to pick one up.
I would respond that collection wasn't available. I ended up with a handfull
of neutrals over this issue, no-one negged me because (I assume) I was
    honest about it.

I openly told the buyers wanting to collect (at all stages down to the 99p)
that the P&P was loaded. I told them that others were doing the same and
suggested they report me to eBay if they felt cheated. I said I had no
choice because if I tried to stick to £20 + £3 post I just didn't sell
anything like the high P&P sellers.

Item out of season now so stopped selling. I never got a single listing
    pulled.

As for the OP here, I think it was obvious what the seller was doing but all
he needed to do was be honest ! He probably wouldn't have got the neg.
