    Quoted from elsewhere

"Coin News carries a story about some new style 20p coins that were struck
in error using the old obverse die.
This means that these coins bear no date, so be on the look out for them.

They have started to show up on eBay, there were 3 listed, here is one of
    them,

An interesting price, £102, and it's not finished yet."

Meh, sure I've had one of those before.

While queueing in the Post Office today, a woman in front got
her purse out and extracted a £2 coin - only this one didn't
have the bi-metallic centre. It looked really weird, like some
kind of huge chocolate coin. Not seen those before!

They were the early version which were only around for about a year
as a trial. I have one in a drawer somewhere.

    Me too.

Maybe they are not so rare?

Looking for dates on change is not my everyday practise
but the design somehow caught my eye.

According to Wiki, they've all been like it since 2008.
Funnily enough, I checked my change this morning and
    have a matching 5p piece.
That design was created for a competition, and goes across
the main coins. Again, more on the wiki page:

But these "new designs" should have the date on the heads side; some don't.

    Ah, gotcha.

This is not the first time I've been slightly retarded this week.

I've not been feeling myself lately...
