Cheapish/second helmet recommendation

    Grrrr.

It looks like the best of German (helmet) engineering is not a patch on the
    British weather.

The high-tech coating on the Schuberth's visor does prevent it from misting
up but as it's not that well ventilated, the inside of the visor stays
'watery' - not misted up, but nearly as bad as I don't like riding around in
a watercolour painting. Only way around is to ride with the visor open, but
once you get water running down the inside of the visor you've lost.

Replacing the coating with a FogCity is not going to help as it'll just be
    the same problem...

At the moment I've taken to wearing my ShiteOldX-Lite flipup lid when it's
raining but that's definitely overdue for replacement.

So, I've finally given in and am looking for another/second lid as I'm fed
    up with this problem.

So, what's the UKRM recommendation for:
    - Something to fit a Shoei XR800/XR900 bonce?
    - Less than 150 quid
    - Reasonably quiet
    - Decent ventilation
    - Preferably a flip up lid

I *knew* I should've bought an Arai RX-7RR instead as that was the only
other lid with the perfect fit but I was worried that it would be too noisy..
    ..

Have you tried an XR1000? I've had a Shoei head for the last fifteen-odd
years and it seems to fit me perfectly.
Ahh. I forgot you're a bit of a pikey. Why not get the best, just for once
in your life, rather than buying to a budget?
It is, astonishingly so. Much less wind noise than any opther lid I've ever
had. I even went for a bimble round the Black Forest with no earplugs the
other night and didn't have any ringing ears afterwards.
Seems OK. The pinlock anti-fog screen insert seems to be better positioned
than it was on the ExCeed it replaced, too.
    noisy..

    Don't you use earplugs anyway?

Yes, I did - it doesn't fit, and I couldn't get an XR900 anymore (which does)
.. There are very few helmets that fit me really well - the XR800 was one,
the Schubert and the top-of-the-range Arai are the two others I know about.

Because I've already bought a friggin' expensive helmet and I'm actually
after a spare/second one, so I don't really want to spend another 400 quid
    on one?

The Schuberth does everything I want it to (apart from the rain problem and
the fact that it cooks my brain when it's really hot outside)...
I do, but I'm pretty sensitive to noise so they don't always help enough
    with a noisy helmet.

    Timo Geusch says...
Did you try the Nitro F317-V when you bought the N750-VX?

I use one sometimes and it's the quietest helmet I've ever used, and
    works well for a flip-front.

Should be able to get one for less than 100 quid in London.

Perks. Is there such a thing ?

Bespectacled people like myself might be willing to part with hard cash
for such a thing. Especially if it can be added to my spectacles which
    steam up as well.

That website is definitely not going to steam up my glasses. "We supply
all the leading brands of riderware and motorcycle equipment, contact
    Ian or Stuart."

If I remember correctly the heated visor was withdrawn from the market.

Don't quite like the idea of drilling the visor to make your own heated
    visor described here:
    http://www.ibmwr.org/otech/visor.html

Anyone heard of Zeus Helmets ? They keep coming up with a heated visor
    on google.

Nitro lids rock, I've had mine for two years now, and I'd buy another.
