I've blagged a cheap trackday at Donington on Saturday. Quiet day so
    I'll be taking the R1.

Where can I get a steering damper (cheap) delivered to my door Friday
    morning?

How long have you had an R1?

Beginning of Feb. All I need to do now is right the damn thing.

So come on you're the man whose reply I was eagerly awaiting...damper?

All depends if you want a cheap damper, or a good damper. For a good
compromise I'd give M+P or Busters a call and get a Sprint one sent on
24 hr delivery. Sprint ones are made to the same spec as the original
Ohlins dampers. They are good enough for a certain Mr Champion of this
parish to fit to his Gixer thou.

£272! Ouch. What about the TOBY (£199)? Apart from an utterly
fucking shite name are they any good? I'm not interested in super
quality, I was quite happy with the standard one on the GSXR1000 so I
don't think I need Ohlins level stuff.

I don't have any first hand experience of them, but never heard anyone
saying they're shite, so maybe it's just what you're looking for.

But the pig-iron standard damper is considered crap.

Ouch indeed. The replacement OE for the GSXR is only £182.

Dunno. I've never had a bike with one before, and I've not really noticed
it's presence on the GSXR so no point in changing it IYSWIM.

  12. Kawasaki H2! Came with a friction *and* a hydraulic damper, both as
    factory fit.

If *ever* there was a warning.....

Could I fit a hydraulic one backwards to add power steering to the
    Harley?

Even the OE on Guzzis was hydraulic.

I've never had a problem with it, or the same one on the 750.

Mind you, I'm the guy who doesn't bother adjusting his suspension from
    stock either.

Apparently. I'm going to check mine this weekend and revert back to
standard settings as I think the previous owner arsed around with it.

    Why the boggle?

They're a fucking handful when they take off and get very head shakey on
landing. I took mine off as they're shit and fall to bits - an MOT
failure - I just put up with shaking bars and throttle through it.
