So you didn't kick the plane tyres and haggle them down to 10p?

I have to go to Hamburg, just for the day, on Thursday 2 December.

Ryanair flies from Stansted to Hamburg/Lubeck. The bummer is the 0625
departure time (Dear God) but the fare is something else.

I logged on 10 minutes ago, and thought: "19 quid each way. Well,
    that's cheap."

Then I realised I'm made a mistake. Not ukp19, but 19p. Yes, nineteen
    pence.

Add credit card booking fee and taxes, and the grand total,
    Stansted-Hamburg-Stansted, is just ukp28.88. I'm all of a fuddle,
missus. Might do some Xmas shopping while I'm there.
Nineteen pence each way.... <shakes head in disbelief>

And Lubeck is exactly where??? Yes, well outside Hamburg. The taxi
    fare will cost you.

I flew Prestwick/Bergamo/Prestwick back in January with my parents for
52p each way (total including taxes just 20.48 each).
Sometimes their flights are down to 1p each way.

Being picked up at the airport by the people I'm seeing, whose office
is in Ratzeburg, wherever that is.

You were robbed - I flew back with Ryanair from Derry to Stansted for 1p
earlier this year. Cost me £5.99 to get to Belfast in the first place mind.

TOG@toil, , emerged from their own little
    world to say
About 14 miles south, the other end of Lake Ratzeburg. Hamburg airport is
    much further away.

    And nearly worth every penny.

*Pray* nothing goes wrong (it probably will).

Two successive four-hour plus delays (wiping out two working days),
with a "**** you, it was cheap" customer service attitude have
convinced me that Ryanair are the ultimate "false economy".

Oh, and check out the AAIB website for "incidents". They seem to have
more than their fair share, including one particularly entertaining
failure to fly a Standard Instrument Departure. Made Oi larf that one
    did.

    Enjoy your flight.

Large amounts of oil seeping out of the engine all through the flight put me

I don't get it... HTF can an airline do a flight for this price?
They'd save more than that in fuel prices by having an empty seat...
    FFS...?

At a guess, a customer on a Ryanair plane is a customer not paying a
competitor. He who has the deepest pockets, wins.

  15. They do quite a pleasant aquavit [at a very pleasant price] at the Lubeck
airport shop, if you like that sort of thing.

  16. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
That, and the prospect of repeat business. Many of these ultra-cheap
flights are positioning legs that would mean the plane would be flying
empty anyway. A bum on a seat is worth having, even if it's only
    contributing tuppence.

  18. Check how much tickets cost on the day you're looking at the screen. The
first few seats are sold super-cheap, and they get pricier and pricer as
the plane fills and the take-off looms.

Someone who *has* to buy a ticket at the last minute pays a lot.

  19. I'm aware of this. However, if I want to get to Ratzeburg near Lubeck,
    it *has* to be Ryanair.
