cheap sportbike

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Zebee Johnstone, Jan 24, 2004.

  1. This is a thought experiment only, I have no garage room or desire for
    another bike.

But if I was oging to buy a bike made later than the 1970s, and didn't
want to spend more than say 3 grand, what would I get?

What would be the best bang-for-buck sportbike for that money?

    Yamaha FZ750(85-88) or Yamaha FZR1000T (87-89)

    Both very capable machines

I suspect 3 might be a bit low, I dunno there'd be much worth having
    from the 90s for that?

    Agree.

Very underrated bikes, the FZ (I had 2) is also EXTREMELY comfortable
for a weekend away, or interstate ride.

    92FZR600. For $3K I'll throw in a pink chain.

    RZ350 :) or 350LC

And after you pick one up for ~2k you'll have just enough left over to
    rebuild the engine........

Hey IK, I keep wanting to e-mail you but it never works, send me some kind
of cryptic e-mail or something. I might be the right one to take the ZX6R
off your hands (since I used to have a 96 myself), or the Spada you've got
up for sale as well. It's a bike buying frenzy i say. e-mail me as
desmo998@hot[dick]mail.com (remove dick for reply) haha!

Ok mate, a little too cryptic. I sent a reply but it still goes to your old
address. Can perhaps you send me something that *actually* works?? :)

Hi Zebee. Sorry about the excesive quotes, but, due to the wonders of
    news group propogation...<shrug>

Check out the U.C. website. There is an 1986 RZ350 for sale in
Adelaide. (You wouldn't want to get too modern!)

I was almost tempted to ask you about your contacts there to have a look
on my behalf, but thought better of it. (because I couldn't decide which
    bike it would replace.)

It wouldn't be far off in "bang for buck" terms, and, it's very
    anti-social too! ;-)

    regards,

early twin head lite type) for 4000 though when I was buying the zx6

  17. You'd have to be very lucky to get a _decent_ GPZ900R for under 3K
