    Volvo, for one.
The X-type looks OK from outside but sit inside one and it's pretty much
a Mondeo - pretty much all the switchgear is the same. And now Jag
have done what they once said they'd never do - make a diesel variant.

Rolls Razor, IIRC, which always seemed a remarkably silly name for a
washing-machine company. What next; Philishave ovens?

I was vaguely toying with the notion of buying a 3.0 X-Type Estate...

I've changed my mind having sat in one.

I imagine they'd be very good comfort wise, like the original (saloon?)
    so what's wrong, poor vision?

    [Jag X-type]
You can't tell from the inside that you're not sitting in a Mondeo.

Oh, I know what you mean, but on paper it looks like a fast but
    practical car.
it's like sitting in a Ford Mondeo. If I wanted a Ford Mondeo, I'd buy
one, saving myself a good chunk of money compared to the Jag.

I've decided not to spend nearly so much money on a car now, though.

Very good call. Anyway new cars are a mugs game.

Take a look around at what £25k buys for a 9-12 month old car in the UK.

  12. Arse! You're right.

Oh well, I was only wrong on one letter.

Bollocks, I thought it was too good to be true.

The X-type is basically built on the Mondeo chassis etc. IMHO it was built
to replace the finished Scorpio range. The idea of a "cheap" Jag to aim at
the mid exec market is a good idea. I guess as a Sales exec or so, given a
choice of a Scorpio (as it was) or a Jag, well. I know what I'd rather have.
The X also has a little shove into the BMW marketplace as well.

I wasn't looking to buy new - which is another reason the X-type isn't
    really an option.
quite a lot, for sure. I'm only looking at spending maybe 15K, though.

Spot on. It's just that, well, Jag have always been aimed at the higher
end executive and to punt then out to sales reps demeans them a bit,
    IMO.
And don't get me going on the *diesel* variant.

Still, I guess it's progress in someone's eyes.
