Has someone got a stupidly cheap bike I can have off them for the purposes
of no claims bonuses? I'm thinking about <£100 but which will have an mot
and allow me to gather NCBs in preperation for that rocket 3 I'm promising
    myself next year.
Someone mentioned a "fictitious" bike to insire myself on, but something
    tells me I shouldn't do that...or should I?

Did you have to look that one up or is it something you've seen before?

Why not buy a wrecked but still registered Puch Maxi or something and
insure that, AFAIA, you don't need an MOT to insure a bike. It's not
like anyone's going to nick it, is it?

I liked Champ's comment on this as we looked at it on the Triumph stand
    at Ally Pally:

"I don't want one, but I'm glad someone's making it."

I *do* want one, but not badly enough to pay for one.

  6. AOL. It'll be nice to see a British company shifting shitloads of product
    in the US, though.

    They do already.
Trumpets sell *really* well in the US.
And Jaguars have one helluva of a waiting list out there.

That rocket three sure does look a great beast.

I can sell you a logbook for a 125 MZ. I've broken the bike.

IME it has to be a bike of >500cc to qualify for big bike insurance
    discounts.
I insured my Tengai, and when I sold it I just kept the insurance running
    along with the TRX.
Then I got two years NCD in one hit (well 6 months apart) but it worked.

  10. I have a wreck thats still registered if that'd do. I'm guessing you
wouldnt need the bike, just the log book (but if you really want it
you can but, trust me, it'll never run again).

Neither. The typo appeared and a definition for it just popped up,
    like. It just happens, Officer.

  13. The Jaguar name is owned by Ford these days, I think. How long before
someone has a go for Triumph?

Ford do indeed own Jaguar. Saved them from extinction IMHO. They also own
Land Rover and Aston Martin, along with a few other labels.
But although owned by Fords, Jaguar and Land Rover are still considered
British, and they are made here.

As for Triumph, be interesting to see. Once upon a time, a long time ago,
no-body wanted to be associated with the brand! My, how things change.

  15. I'd like one, so I'm glad some folk will buy them and take the
    depreciation hit for me.

  17. It's possibly co-incidence, but Bloor is an uncommon enough name.
Somebody called John Bloor started up a washing machine co. in the
ummm... early 70s. Big startup advertising, crashed and burned
    spectacularly.

  18. Well, the original Triumph company was set up by a couple of Boche. So
prolly ripe for a take-over by BMW.
