  4. It's my fault, or rather it's my wife's fault.

Last night she saw a chap on telly who looked like Charlie so I asked if he
was still alive. After a quick Google I found that he was and proceeded to
look for him on Youtube etc. so that my daughter could see who he was.

Wonder what time he popped 'em?

    Spooooooooky.

    Sorry, Charlie.

  6. Just looked like it. His material died decades ago.

Unlikely I would have thought. In my memory he is from a time when I
was wearing short trousers which puts it 40 some years ago and I doubt
there are more than half a dozen other around these parts who can
    remember more.

He was funnier than Norman Wisdom, especially in the 'jumping through
a bookcase' sketch on live television.

Lived next door but one or two to a friend of mine, in Crystal Palace
for years but he's been in some actors retirement home in Richmond for
    the last 3 or 4...

I wouldn't go that far but he was no Norman Wisdom.

He was lucky that usenet didn't exist when he was popular.

Norm's great. He's one of my favourite old time actors. And he's still
    alive.

Had the pleasure of meeting Charlie Drake whilst he was resting in Eyam
with his very good friends at the cafe. Charming, patient and
    unassuming gentleman in real life.
