    Hi
Anyone got any info onchanging the fork oil on a 1999 R1. Are ther
any special tools required ? Can it be done with the forks in place ?
    Cheers

Yes, but you'd have to turn the bike upside down.

  3. Or he could use a new fangled anti-gravity "Syringe" system.

If the OP has already cleaned the forks but accidentally filled it
with the wrong oil, that might be a good idea.
If OTOH he has (like most of us) a fork full of filthy black and
silver coloured oil he should pump the fork vigorously, drain
effectively, pump again, drain, add some sacrificial oil to flush
out more nasties, pump and drain again. IMHO, much easier done
with the fork legs off the bike.

Pulling the fork legs from the bikes I've had wasn't really that
    much work.

Putting drain screws in the bottom of the forks at the factory
    is even less work.
