I currently still have the GSX-R, for which insurance is up next week [1].

I'm looking to change this to 3PF&T ( for a few reasons[2]) which should
    result in a cheaper renewal.

However, what happens if I change bike in the relatively near future and
want to insure the new bike as Fully Comp?

Is it new policy time, or will they just bump up the price?

Logically I think the latter but I can see a few 'flaws' with the plan.

[1] likely to be forced into renewing with current ins. co. as they refuse
to close my claim, because the other party STILL hasn't formally admitted
liability - despite them paying all claims AND having the cnut being
    prosecuted by Plod.

    [2] see 1.

That is bollox that is. The claim is all about somebody else's
insurance bought and paid for in the past. It has **** all to do with
you and how you spend your real disposable income in the future, that is
    your fucking business.

dwb emerged from their own little world to say
Make sure the any company would offer you a full comp policy on the bike
you may buy[1]. Some underwriters will happily cover people for TPF&T but
are unwilling to take the extra risk of full comp.

[1] especially if you are considering a larger engined bike

  4. But has he been *convicted*? 'Cos that's acknowledgement of
responsibility (durrr....). There's no way they can wriggle out.

If his insco has paid all claims, and paid your excess, then it
shouldn't affect your insurance at all.

He's been offered a compulsory driver ed. course. It's only if he ignores
that (highly likely since I get the _distinct_ impression from his Ins. co
that he hasn't even filled in a claim incident report as of yet) that they
will consider taking him to court.
Claimed it all direct from 3rd party - my ins. co haven't had to spend a
    single penny.
My insurance co are claiming that's they can't close the case because "they
    may still claim for something".

I did point out that in theory you can claim for up to three years for
personal injury, so how can ANY claim be closed - "that's just the way it is
    'Sir'".

Well, if they claim for something - they claim from him. Not you. I
don't see where the problem is. It shouldn't affect your record at all.

I think what this means is that Dan's insurance company won't close the case
until they're sure that the stupid old **** who ran into him won't be
claiming against Dan's insurance. This won't be until Dan's claim against
the SOF is settled in Dan's favour. If the SOF isn't talking to his
insurance, then Dan's lawyers should be suing the **** directly - small
claims or whatever. That'll wake him up, when he finds a bill for ten large
    on the doormat.
