I am going to change the brake pads on my R6 tomorrow and would like to know
if I have to bleed the brakes?

No....before you take the old pads out, use a flat like a file or something
to pry them apart as far as they will go to allow for the new pads which
will be thicker & need more room.

  4. Swapping pads is as easy as sliding out the retaining pin, lifting the
'spring clip', which is a wide flat stainless thing that holds the pads down
to stop them rattling, and you can lift the pads out.

Never, EVER, go near the brake lever while the pads are out... if you
happen to bump it then you'll need to push the brake pistons back (evenly)
and its a pain - using things like a couple of vice's and wood etc... just
    don't bump it.

Also, do not touch the new pad material.... only hold them by the metal
edges, touching the material will put some oil on it (even if your hands
are clean!) and will cause squeaky brakes.

I know eDonkey (a program you can find on the web using google or so) has a
few workshop manuals available for download, maybe get yourself setup for
that to get you started, then go buy the thing at Yamaha.

    Hope that helps

Vices and wood... no.... bare fingers will do it OK. Slow but constant pressure will push them back in.

Worth getting a can of brake cleaner whilst the pads are out and spray liberally (or labourally) to clean out any gunk or dust
around the pistons/seals before putting new pads in.

  7. Not if you fit thinner discs at the same time.
