Changing Brake Hoses

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Say it as you See it, Apr 14, 2007.

  1. Following on from my brake pad problems the brake lever is still a bit soft
, having had advice for all methods of bleeding (and thats being mild),
standard bleeding, calipers above the master cylinder, pressure bleed, using
a cable tie to keep the lever in over the weekend, everything bar reverse
bleeding, I'm now going for changing the hoses (apparently they can stretch
    and swell.)

Once the new hoses are fitted is it going to be another case of all of the
above including the frustration? Or is someone going to tell me an easier
    method please.

Bleedin' brakes is causing me a F%£$&*g Nightmare.

I use a big hypodermic syringe to pull the fluid through, absolute
piece of piss with some home brew clear tubing from the bleed nipple to
    syringe end.

Had the same on a neglected 305. New hoses sorted it. I reckoned they
must have been ballooning under their outer covers. Went from trying to
go round roundabouts at 80 with the front brake mashed to the throttle to
throwing myself off the front just by looking at the brake lever in one
    day. :)
