...is a clue in today's Grauniad crossword. Another potentially apt: Expert takes quick turn (7) (The answers cross; the first letter of the above is the last letter of the title clue.) -- Ivan Reid, School of Engineering & Design, _____________ CMS Collaboration, Brunel University. Me too. I've had a good ol' look at these and nothing springs to mind. Northerners - too thick to read the Guardian. PS Have you managed to get 1 Down in the Sun quick break crossword yet?
Dr Ivan D. Reid secured a place in history by writing: This is one of three I couldn't get today. I left the paper at work, but seem to remember 'hatchet' fitted, but for no good reason. Someone tell me the right answer, FFS.
Yes, hatchet would fit, but it's actually quick = HOT + turn = SHOT -> HOTSHOT = expert. I take it you got CRUNCH then? It was actually the last answer I got, having taken some time to come up with UNCERTAIN. -- Ivan Reid, School of Engineering & Design, _____________ CMS Collaboration, Brunel University. Dr Ivan D. Reid secured a place in history by writing: Remember the answer, but not the clue - I was doing it with a colleague in a car from Manchester to London, generally read the G but don't have time for the crossword, and have got out of the habit anyway. But she's a Telegraph crossword fan, we finished that in minutes, so turned to the G. So...what was the 'Uncle blah blah good meal' about? - had all the letters, but neither of us could see it, looked an anagram but gave up in disgust on it....
Uncle Henry has no cooked meal (8) Anagram of UNCLE + H (as in king, HR) + ON -> LUNCHEON -- Ivan Reid, School of Engineering & Design, _____________ CMS Collaboration, Brunel University. I'm starting to feel like Champ here[1] - what a bloody obtuse set of clues. At least with the Telegraph's compliers when you get it you think, "Oh yes, of course". [1] With regard to crosswords, not in any sort of good with wimmin/ fast on a bike/held together with Meccano sort of way.
In communiqué Uncle Henry has no cooked meal. ** -- +----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Gilera Nordwest * 2 Yamaha WR250Z | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +----------------------------------------------------------------+
Font **** up. Strangely looks OK quoted though. It's still wanky - I'm sure we could come up with some much better ones ... Immigrant arrests Champ (4) Confused insulting Jap holds Champ's leg (3) Champ's unmatched fits are in disarray (3-6,4) etc, etc.
It doesn't. "uncle h" has "no" - ie.take the the letters u,n,c,l,e,h,n and o - that lot is cooked (i.e. scrambled) to give a meal.
