    Well,

    I'm using a basic three-step method which
is more time consuming but cheaper than
    spray lube.

First a liberal but not excessively generous
working in of generic 2-stroke oil, working it
in, then a good coating of grease, again worked
in, followed by a final generous spray of switch
    cleaning solvent.

Finally the vehicle is parked in the sun on a
strip of foil to encourage it to melt in properly.

OK, so this is a totally pointless waste of
time and no it's not an 'O'-ring assembly.

But anyone wishing to compare chain life
and having the resources (2 pretty closely
matched bikes, for example) is welcome
    to try it.
