I looked at the listing, and wondering who would watch it - either you
know what he's going to say, and you'd be bored with old territory, or
you'd be an idiot and rant.

Anyway, as much as I do in general agree with what Dawkins says, I
think he's wasting his time on this sort of thing, and rather than
this god/idiot-bashing, I'd much rather see him discuss - for example
    - political anthropology/ evolutionary psychology with Steven Pinker.
i.e. I'd like to see people I mostly agree with getting down to the
    fine points.

Actually, sod that - on balance , I'd rather watch Richard Dawkins and
Steven Pinker knock seven bells of shit out of Stephen Hay Gould,
Daniel Dennet and (personal prejudice added) Bonnie Greer and with
nail-studded baseball bats - now *that* would be entertainment.

Must say it didn't blow me away.

Do you mean Jay Gould? didn't he croak a few years ago. I think he would
have been glad to miss the rise and rise of Intelligent Design.

At his amused restrained manner was better for his case than the
apoplectic raving of his previous attempts.

Funniest moment was the dowser complaining that she failed because
there were no scaffolding and planks to let her walk above the test
    samples.

Oh that bit made me quite mad. Dowsing detects RUNNING water underground and
the how of it seems to be well enough understood.

Plenty of people make a good living AIUI, and are often employed by 'big
    business'. ISTBC as ever.

    How does that work then?
I can detect water flowing underground, into the blue again,
in the silent water, under the rocks and stones,
    there is water underground.
    But only on the hi-fi.

Now I didn't know that. But then I am not an expert. Did not any of
the expert dowsers taking part know this then and point it out to the
    designerts of the experiment?

The chap who found the new course of the underground spring near my house
said he didn't think there was anything mystical about it at all. His back
muscles were contracting slightly which caused the divining rod to move. He
assumed this was the result of an electrical field generated by the running
    water underground.

OTOH he said people who claimed to find minerals/oil etc were lying.

If etc includes beer then I do not need any form of amplification to
tell me where to find it.

I come from having used a diviner to find my local spring, which had changed
course slightly. I watched. It worked. I got the water back for my house.

Yeeees but you can actually see and use the water rather than talking to my
GG Grandad through a proxy. He wasn't taking any coin off me either.

of all mystical crap, water divination is actually one of the easiest
to postulate a scientific basis for i.e. moving ionised water almost
certainly does create an EM field of some sort.
