    It runs!

Cleaned the air filter, changed the plugs (the others were *black*)
connected the fuel line, put a new battery on, some juice in it, and
kicked it over. Started third or fourth kick.

It's a little rough, to be honest, though. Hardly surprising.

Tomorrow I'm going to book it into the mechanical marvels that are
Swifts of Laindon for a service and MOT.

    It will also need:
    - Throttle cable/spring (symptom is that the throttle doesn't wind off
when released - a primitive cruise control, I suppose; could be handy
    for Frankfurt)
    - Choke spring (it's missing, so you have to hold the choke on until
    it's warm)
    - Clutch cable (sometimes you have to push the clutch lever away from
    the grip!)
    - Rear mudguard (almost rotted through; will call Dave Silver tomorrow)
    - something else that I can't remember

Trouble is, I won't be able to take it down there until Saturday, and
won't be able to collect it until the following Saturday.

    Progress. That's the main thing.

  2. I'm replacing the guards on mine with brand new ones. The rear guard on
mine is beginning to go, but it's still very serviceable. A tenner?
